One of my students has used "double" to say you look like similar to other person who does not belong to your family.In Spain we use this word and we say for example everybody has got a "double in the world something like a twim. I think this is spanglish ,however I can�t find a proper word. Can anybody help me ? Thanks so much

Hi,There �s an expresion "to be the double of/the image of" "you are the double of/the image of somebody." It depends on how they used it.For doubts like these I find wordreference.com forum very useful Best wishes |

you can use the word "doubleganger" which is adapted from the German word "Doppelg�nger" to refer to any double or look-alike of a person. You can check it in a dictionary ot make sure.

"doubleganger" is very rare, the more common use is "doppelganger".
You can also use "double", which is very often used in the film industry to indicate a replacement for filming purposes; i.e. stunt double (a person that performs your stunts), body double (often used for nude scenes wher ethe actress/actor refuse to remove their clothes for the camera).
Sometimes we used "mirror image" as well.
I would opt for doppelganger as the best word though. |
