80s, 90s ...?

Dear colleagues!

We can say in the 80s , in the 90s . But what about the 21st century? Can we say in the 2000s ? Or in the 10s ? Is 2011 in the 20s ?

Not as if I m the only one with good answers, that s for sure!

Yes, 80s, 90s, 2000s (There are many variations on the 2000s, and they have been discussed thoroughly on this forum), 10s or teens (not the 20s yet until 2020, of course). Some people use the optional apostrophe, as in 80 s.

Hello there.  I have heard an expression to refer to the years 2000 to 2010, and that is "in the noughties".  I believe that this is quite a colloquial expression - I haven t heard it on BBC News yet!
