hello I want show to my ss the very hungry caterpiller story.
they are 6 years old. Is this story too easy for them?.
How can I use this story, I have been looking for material and I have found not enough thing.
can somebody help me, saying what to do with the story and how to teach it.

You may try a minibook, a cloze activity, record your students - and make an audiobook, watch the original film http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qoYPLtqqVk + mute + listen to your students � recordings, fill-in listening exercise, ask students to learn the story/play by heart - drama Caterpillar, crafts activities, write a similar story on a different animal...
vocabulary/grammar vocab: seasons + weather, insects, what do animals/insects eat?, animal abilities + can/can�t,
heath/illness + symptoms, un/healthy food, junk food, healthy diet, healthy life-style polite requests - Can I have a ...? + shops - greengrocer �s conversation - pair work life cycle of a butterfly, fly, mosquito, grasshopper, fish, jellyfish, salamander, frog, humans, star life cycle, plant life cycle... - students draw a poster food cycle - food chain - predator-pray - eg: plant - caterpillar - frog - snake - OWL
grammar: past/present simple (rewrite the story in present simple), expressing quantity - numbers, many/much, few/little, a slice/piece of/a bit of, a cup of/a glass of...water Conditional I - If I eat too much chocolate, I will have stomachache. Conditional II - If my sister drank too many glasses of cola, she would have a headache. Conditional III - If I hadn �t drank anything the whole day, I would have had a terrible headache / sunstroke. modals (can/�t) or should / shouldn �t/mustn �t eat / drink /sleep / go to bed late / get up late / study late....

Our course book has a story along the same lines (obviously based on the original) and it is used mainly to teach the days of the week....
