Dictation or exercise practising the "ough" sounds

Hi everyone,

I m looking for dictations or exercises on the use of the "ough" sounds in English:

thought; enough; through; dough; thorough; cough; bough; etc.  Seems easy enough but nothing so far on the internet.  If nobody has any ideas, I ll just have to make one up.

I"d be grateful for any help.

There s a really funny scene from I Love Lucy in the episode called "The English Tutor," in which Ricky reads part of a book and struggles with all of the different ways to pronounce ough. The link for the youtube video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osK2qKA5pZw. It s a six minute video and the part about ough starts at 2 minutes 50 seconds. I was just looking for this video a couple of days ago. I remember watching this clip when I was in school and it stuck with me because it was so funny.

When I googled it I also found this website: http://www.helium.com/knowledge/7131-how-many-ways-can-the-letters-ough-be-pronounced-in-english. There aren t any exercises, but there are articles that may give you ideas when you re creating something.

Theres some sentences here that you can use for dictation: http://www.stickyball.net/phonics/163.html

Then of course theres always these that do the e-mail rounds on a regular basis: http://englishinteractive.net/Conversation/Homographs.htm
