. When do your students start learning English (age)? 8/9, but only listening and speaking, no writing or reading skills
2. How many hours per week do they study? In primary school, one hour a week, later, when they arrive in my level, they have 3 , 45minutes lessons a week, then 4 , 45 min a week. As they go further they begin to have less hours, Yes, less, not my mistake - just one of the many mistakes of our Educational department :( 3. What is their level at the age of 15? Elementary/low pre intermediate 4. At what age do they reach upper-intermediate level (FCE - B2-C1)? They don t, not in the public school 5. Do they watch children stories in English at home? TV courses? comedies? films in English? yes, they do. Many of them have access to many English Tv channels. 6. Do they read graded readers / listen to audiostories? Only in classes, compulsory - children don t usually enjoy reading that much. 7. Does your public TV broadcasts films in English? How often? Yes, in a daily basis What would your students help to reach a higher level, apart from school? Travelling is not a big solution - it s too expensive, but exchanging mails, letters, and internet foruns are things they can do and usually bring good changes.

First Shanghai but lack some information:
1. When do your students start learning English (age)? It depends on the income and the preschool. Those with money start earlier. Even in private Pre-school, one payment to enter and another to be part of the International English portion with hopefully a foreign teacher visiting once a week for 15 to 30 minutes. some 3 or 4 an hour a week, others 4 or 5 years old and the poorest around 6 years old. 2. How many hours per week do they study? on average young students an hour older maybe 4 hours a week. Unless they have sign up for afterschool programmes. 3. What is their level at the age of 15? from very low to semi-fluent 4. At what age do they reach upper-intermediate level (FCE - B2-C1)? don t know the test. They have their own here. 5. Do they watch children stories in English at home? TV courses? comedies? films in English? At home mostly no but some of the new cartoons are having both added in their DVD s. 6. Do they read graded readers / listen to audiostories? very limited 7. Does your public TV broadcasts films in English? How often? not really and the one channel that does has a lot of mistakes. What would your students help to reach a higher level, apart from school? Do you mean: What does your students do to reach a higher level in English besides school? parents make them go to afterschool academies.
