Right or wrong?

Dear colleagues,

I would like to aks you for help. Would you say:

The name Oxfam originates from the Oxford Committee for Famine Relief?

I would say: comes from, however, I m not sure if native speakers would use originates or not. I wouldn t but I m not sure.

Thank you and I wish you a nice day.

Hello zvonka... It depends who we are speaking to. If I were explaining where a word comes to my 2nd graders I would use "comes from", if I were speaking to my colleagues  would use "originates from". Either one is acceptable though.

Dear Edromedina,

Thank you. What matters to me is if both are acceptable.
