Is the sentence correct?
|
Hi to you all, dear friends.
My friend asked me to translate for her the title of her Bachelor work. It is:
The adaptation process of clients of home for old people.
The problem is I am not sure if it s "politically correct". Sorry for bothering you, but do you think the sentence is OK?
Thank you for your help. Michaela

Nursing homes residents - the ( adaptation ) process.
I don t know about "adaptation" , could it be "transition" ?? |

It doesnt make sense to me MJ Misa. What is the actual context?
The politically correct term for old people is "the elderly" or "the aged" or variations using "elderly" or "aged". The use of "senior" is also often used.
EDIT: Alicias suggestion of transition enlightened me, so how about:
The transition process of elderly citizens from their home to an aged care or retirement facility.
OR
The transition of the elderly from home to aged care
There is something quite similar here |

Well, thank you both, but that s not exactly what is it about. Jayho s suggestion s fine but too long:o(( Could I write "The transition of the elderly in retirement facility" ?

- How to adapt to life in a nursing home
- Retirement homes - how the elderly adapt to a new environment
- From heaven to hell - Grandma carted off to nursing home
- Nursing homes - The transition and adaptation process
- Survival manual for OAPs dropped in nursing home habitat
Just a few ideas. Suitable for either specialized journals, mainstream magazines or sleazy tabloids... |

Just a point though - nursing homes is no longer politically correct. The current term is aged care .
Retirement is also incorrect as many people have been retired for many years before going to an aged care facility. |
