Your system is like yours. I don t agree either. The students have a lot of chances to pass the year.they are getting weaker and weaker ,don t you agree?

Absolutely, Mary. Sadly... if we add up all the ... hmmm... how can we call it? "help" a student gets to pass, even though he is not prepared for the next grade, we are just contributing to make the student weaker. For the system, everything is reduced to "numbers"... "statistics".... They just worry about "looking good" as a system that does not have any failing students... but we re actually CONTRIBUTING to their failure once they are outside the school, and into the real world. The students become young men and women who are USED TO getting by "the easy way", where they don t have to work hard, or put their best effort. And when they find out their school crystal shell no longer protects them, they will become insecure, frustrated, and have a very hard time adapting and re-learning what they should have back in school.

Oh well, such is life! But again I say, and I truly feel it in my heart. Let s not let this demotivate us. We must keep working hard to make at least a tiny difference. Maybe not in the lives of all our students, but at least in one.

Have a good night/day/afternoon, or whatever it may be in your part of the world!

Lots of hugs!
