Friends, what is correct?
1. Thats the man who borrowed the money? OR whose money I lent? (I would say A)
2. I am short of money. I dont know whether I will be able to pay my bills on time. OR I can pay my bills on time. (I would say B)
3. I have heard of him. He is said t be very rich. OR They tell he is very rich. (I would say A)

1.A (borrow - vypůjčit si od někoho, lend - půjčit někomu - cant be B) 2.A ( future tense, you cant use "can") 3.A ( tell - řci někomu - cant be B) |

Isnt it an object clause though? or rather a noun clause used as a direct object? or maybe I m confused by the Ukrainian grammar notions... Sophia

Sounds poetic, don t you think? Maybe: This is the man to whom I lent (the) money. Sophia
Edit: just for fun -- think of a situation, where the guy had borrowed money from someone, and then his friend asked him to lend him money, and he lent him some of the borrowed money. So, wont then the B variant be appropriate? This is the man (from whom I had borrowed it in the first place) whose money I lent (to my friend when he asked)

1. A; The second option is wrong because I lent him my money so the money belongs to me, it doesnt belong to him. The use of whose is not correct.
2. A; Present form - can. Past form - could. Future form - will be able.
3. A; Use tell + object pronoun.

1. Thats the man who borrowed money from me. OR That s the man I lent some money to.
2. I am short of money. I don t know whether I will be able to pay my bills on time. OR
I am short of money, so I don t know if I can pay my bills on time.
3. I have heard of him. He is said to be very rich. OR I have heard of him. They tell me he is very rich.
All of the above is correct.
