Tell us please in 5,000 words or less what possibly could a saltpetre man be, do? Please no dictionary definitions. Just use your imagination. Good luck. Ed

Ok! I think Salpetre man is an old portuguese traditional trade. Let �s split the word:



Salt - something that is used in cooking,the man had to extract salt and it was usually performedby a man called Peter.

In Portuguese it would be "Pedro Salineiro" , very common in a small Portuguese town - Aveiro:

here is the image to prove that SALTPETRE MAN is from Aveiro, therefore Portuguese

some salt, some pepper, some thyme, some rosmarine, something else as spices.
 
A saltpetre man is the man whose task is to gather all the needed spices for a special dish.
