I think you can download all the series in mediafire, just type Diary of a wimpy kids: Rodrick rules mediafire pdf for example, it will be there.
Ask the student to write a diary for a week of what happens in that entire period, it could be just simple and short as long as they include their thoughts, feelings and actions.
