What does "truth matters" mean? And one more question; can we use the word "occidental" instead of "western"? Is there any difference between these words?

2) occidental is a formal word (like orient for eastern)

Sure you can use "occidental"-- if you don �t want anyone to understand you.

It does mean (more or less) "western" or "the West", but it is rarely used outside of academia so you will find "normal" people don �t know what you are talking about.
