Just a quick question, when describing a film or book plot, what do you think is better? To use the Present Simple or the Past Simple? Sometimes my students get confused and they start using one tense and then switch to the other and then back to the first. It gets confusing at times.

Hi Diego, as far as I am concerned, both tenses can be used to narrate a story. The difference is that by using the Simple Present, the story sounds more dynamic, more vivid. Students can choose any of them but they should stick to the tense they chose throughout the story, I mean they can �t swtich. If Simple Present is chosen, sts could also use Present Continuous and Present Perfect. Here �s an example: Have a nice long weekend! Jorgelina |
