Help with rather

Hello,

can anybody help me please?

Which sentence is correct and why?

She prefers to spend her free time alone rather than hang out with her friends;
or she prefers to spend her free time alone rather than to hang out with her friends.

Thank you for your help

Rather than hang out... Sorry I d found a very funny cartoon saying just that but I can t insert it!You ll have to believe me (according to Google, both are possible but still, "rather than hang out" sounds far better to my ears)

Thank you for your reply. Can you write a link where I can find that funny cartoon?
