I wonder if someone could tell me if it is possible to say "IN THE MEANWHILE" I �m not sure if it is correct... Thanks very much in advance! |

This expression is perfectly correct.
It means "during the same period". In fact it is a synonym of "while". Let �s give an example :
Lucy was doing her homework, her kitten tore her new slippers in the meanwhile. When Lucy discovered her torn slippers she was furious. |

Maybe it �s a regional thing, but here in Ohio, I have never heard "in the meanwhile". Yes, it �s correct, but I have never encountered "meanwhile" as a noun - just as an adverb. Here, we say "in the meantime" or just "meanwhile". Bruce |
