Hi everybody,
Once again I need your help. Next week I will explain my FCE students how to write a restaurant review. It will be a good chance to help my students improve their adjective availability. They tend to use basic adjectives in their compositions over and over again and I always recommend them to use other adjectives in order to get higher marks on their exams. I have divided the adjectives into three main groups: food, restaurant atmosphere, and service. These are the ones I have compiled:
Atmosphere: calm; congenial; cosy; family; friendly; homely; happy; informal; relaxed; pleasant; welcoming; warm; gloomy; romantic; unique;
Service: efficient; excellent; quick; prompt; bad; poor; terrible; personal; friendly; first-class; professional;
Food: delicious; excellent; superb; tasty; basic; simple; staple; inedible; unhealthy; wholesome; diet; fast; snack; takeaway; spicy; sweet; vegetarian; overcooked; undercooked; raw; fresh; frozen; canned; tinned; ready-made; home-madefatty; fried; stodgy;
Feel free to add as many other adjectives as you like to the list to improve it. Particularly colloquial adjectives such as yucky which are the kind of ones I don t know.I would also like to improve my adjective availability.
Thanks a million for your answers in advance. |
