She dresses prettily.

What �s correct or what �s the difference?

In an old English book it says she dresses pretty BUT she dresses awfully.

It really should be an adverb which describes a verb - prettily adv: dresses: verb.
It just sounds weird.  I �d say - she dresses nicely.
