Hello, dear teachers!I need your help.Which variant is correct? There is the table and five chairs in the middle of the room. or There are the table and five chairs in the middle of the room. Thanks a lot in advance!!!

Hi, you always have to consider the noun coming right after the be verb.
Thus �There is the table and five chairs in the middle of the room � is right. |

It should be a table, not the table. (Unless there is some previous statement about a particular table.)

Spot on! �A � should be used here here, not �the �, because its the first time the table has been mentioned. If you have mentioned them already, then you can use �the � with �are �, not �is �. However, this sentence would be seldom used by English native-speakers.
"The table and chairs are in the middle of the room" would be more natural I feel.
