Hi Elmo Recycling bins in the UK are not uniform, but vary from local authority to local authority. For instance, In Runnymeade Borough, near Heathrow airport, they have blue bins for paper & plastic, black bins for bottles or glass and green bins for garden waste such as grass cuttings and old plants. While in other areas they vary in colour, shape and size.

Recycling bins/containers differ in color in the USA, too. The most common color is dark green (because green=ecological), but in my city, the official regular garbage can is green and the recycling is brown! The ones at school are royal blue. Go figure.

Here in Cincinnati, within the city limits, where the city collects the trash and the recyclables, all paid for by taxes, the bins are green. In the suburbs, where a private company collects the recyclables (for a fee), they are blue.

And our bins are all green but with different coloured lids. The lid colour indicates what can go in it and this varies from area to area but the lid colours are mainly green (normal waste), yellow (recyclable) and blue (office paper). |
