You know I get a little miffed by age restrictions. People can t teach when they are over 55?

13 Feb 2012

Jayho
Australia

Looky, in many countries employers cant do that - its discrimination against age.

Jayho and Looky,

It s not only discrimination, it also displays a stupid attitude.  "Young" = "Good": "Old" = "Bad".

"Thats why we ENSURE TO FIND the right job for you".

Pardon?

Recruit 4 China ENSURES TO MATCH the right job to you whenever you want it.

Pardon?

... and Les, they do not require a TESOL trained person.  A BA in anything will suffice.  What does that say???

Hi!

I will let you know if me and a bunch of colleagues will be interested, here in Portugal, cause by the end of school year my government will lay off a huge number of teachers....

Orders/measures from the most popular nations at the moment.... No need to mention Dead

I would rather go back to Africa. It s warmer and at least some were former Portuguese colonies and I can understand their language.Tongue

To add to Les, Jay and looky :

If I m 56, have 25 years experience and tefl    BUT     I m not a native speaker I m no good ? Can a native speaker aged 22, without tefl / tesol or any other teacher training course be a better teacher just because english is their mother tongue ???

Don t worry Alicia!

I suppose we are all "old" and therefore "useless to society"......Wacko

In the UK, If all the "old", "useless", Grandmothers and Grandfathers who care for their Grandchildren stopped providing this free service to their family, their Sons and Daughters would have to take on the role of Baby-Sitters.  These Parents would have no free time and so probably would be forced to give up their employment.  British Industry would be crippled!

Same thing here, Les! Lol

Dear Mariannina!

In Portugal students now call their teachers "COTA" meaning old and almost senile (everybody over 18 years old) ..... So Im in my late 40s, so I guess im included in that group .....Cry
