Dear teachers,
I have a student with learning disability,he is 7 years old and have problems with reading and writing both in his mother tongue and English. He can t understand why there is difference between the spelling and pronounciation. He tries to write as he hears,Have you ever had such a student?( or a student who has dyslexia)  If so,what kind of activities did you do and can you recommend a course book? I really need help, thanks so much.

Hello!
It s funny because I went to a lecture about the "dys" problems this morning.
I will be in charge of a classroom with different learning disabilities next year.
In fact, the solutions to help the children depend on their problems.
If there is dyslexia, you need to give less exercises to those students whereas the rest of the classroom will have some more. Moreover, you need to adapt your tests. You consider an answer as correct if the pronunciation corresponds to the answer you expect.
Usually, you need to make bigger photocopies.
You need to give them more time to do their exercises, tests...
They told us this morning that it s not a good idea to make them read in front of the classroom unless they ask for it.
Hope, it helps a little! :)
