types of "punishment" for unruly pupils
|
Hi colleagues! what are the types of punishment used in your schools? In tunisia we have exclusion, suspension, (detention: rarely) , lines (especially for kids) and another one that I d like to ask about its exact name. It s when the school sends a letter to the parents of the unruly pupil to complain about his/her disruptive behaviour and warn that the punishment will be worse if he/she breaks the rule again. Thanks for your help. |

As a community college instructor, fortunately we don t have to administer as many punishments as you probably do. The one you mention doesn t have an "exact name," as you put it. We just say that you sent a warning letter to the parents.
Punishments at my community college include expulsion with being barred from all campuses, suspension for a semester or year, or being dropped from a class for poor attendance. Students who must come to school for probation or parole might go to jail as a result of school punishment. Students with unemployment or welfare benefits could lose those benefits. |

We send letters of warning to unruly pupils parents and we just refer to them as a letter home. |
