Dear friends, I wonder, if the ending of a sentence ///and things//// is similar with ////etc///and others/// Can I say: I ve bought books and things at the book store. Could you give me yr own example?! Thanks, Olga

Yes it is Savvinka. When we talk informally we don t say etc. We do often say things. We might say it when the things is a long list, or when we really don t want to itemise everything or when we can t actually think of the items (mental block). It is very common. A more formal way would be to say so forth.
If you can get a hold of Scott Thornbury s Natural Garmmar book you ll find it mentioned on page 156. He states that it is used for talking vaguely about a category (although I think this is too broad) and uses the example of She collects maps and things.
Here are some of my examples:
This website has worksheets and things to help teachers.
We went shopping today and bought some clothes and things for our holiday.
Tomorrow we will look for shells and things that have been washed up on the beach.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
