apart from belonging to spoken and written language, are both expressions correct ? is there a specific rule ?

If you �ve just arrived, you �d say �I �m home �. If someone asks you where you are, then you �re at home. |

You can also omit the preposition in "stay (at) home". |

I think you can really omit the �at �, that �s what I would say. Asking to an anglophone colleague, she told me �I �m home � is better, no specific rule ...... |

Yes, annabelle, you can omit the "at", but that doesn �t sound quite as natural for stating your current location. We would say "I �m at home" more often than "I �m home" in answer to the question "Where are you?".

I agree with cunliffe. I am home when arriving and at home when asked. It is quite natural for me, although I had to think about it but it is what I would say. John |
