Difference between motivational and motivating (adj)?

Can something offer me help? I find it difficult to explain the difference of the two words in usage to my student. |

In many cases the words are interchangeable, but (in my opinion) "motivational" tends to mean that something is intended to motivate and "motivating" tends to mean that it does or has motivated.
