I was poking around my inbox and I found this quote (below) in one of my messages, can someone tell me what it means :)
Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because you won �t have a leg to stand on.

It �s a metaphor or an exaggerated idiomput your foot in it (British English) (also put your foot in your mouth North American English, British English)to say or do something that upsets, offends or embarrasses somebody So, I guess someone either wanted to give you a piece of advice or that �s their moto:) Sophia

This is a little joke made by combining two common expressions. To put your foot in your mouth is to say something inappropriate or foolish, which embarrasses you. Not to have a leg to stand on means that you don �t have any support for a position you hold, or an argument you are trying to make. So, if you put both feet in your mouth, you won �t have any credibility. Bruce |
