Hello,
My students were writing alliterations. Could you please look at this sentence. Is it grammatically correct?
Last August angry Andy always ate alligators in America.
The word always doesn t seem right, but CAN you actually use it in the past simple tense?
Thank you,
Have a good day/evening! |

Thank you ivannaper.
I agree with bill24. More sentences like these:
I always wanted to be a doctor.
I always played with the dolls when I was little.
The words wanted and played are in the past simple, aren t they?
So can you use always in the past tense too? |

I would use " used to" in the past, but I don t think always is wrong... |

There is nothing wrong with the original sentence, except that angry Andy must have done a lot of hunting in Florida or Louisiana! We actually eat very little alligator in the USA. Most Americans have never tasted it. |

It s a little unusual to use "always" with a specific time like "last August", but it isn t incorrect. |
