In search for computer gamer vocabulary and slang!

Hi! I need your help. Ive got some students who are addicted to computer games. They often ask me to give them the translation of some special words. But I am not a computer gamer at all! So it would be very kind of you to share your ideas or links. Thanks in advance.

Hi sveta!

There are such a variety of com@puter games & jargon in use that it can be quite difficult. Most of the terms are used within gaming communities & its very hard to get a good reference that spans the entire spectrum of gaming.

Heres a few sites that might help:
http://internetgames.about.com/library/glossary/blglossary.htm
http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/game.htm
http://www.jonstorm.com/glossary/
http://www.economy-point.org/m/mmorpg-jargon.html

Personally, I would try the following approach:

If a student has a term they want translated get them to write it down. If there are several students get them to write a term each on the same piece of paper & then give it to you. Let them know you will give them their answers the following day. Then search each specific term through google or yahoo or whichever search engine you prefer. You will often find a meaning & examples of usage individually rather than a comprehensive glossary of gaming terms.

Good luck!
