When you resign from a position, that means you �ve given up the position.
Answer to your question should be: "I resigned from the post of Asst. Engineer."

Are you wriring a letter of resignation? Or was the resignation in the past? If you are writing to resign from a position you can say: I wish to resign from the position of I would like to tender my resignation from the position of (more formal) |
