Hi!Any books you would recommend for a class of gifted and motivated pupils. They are 14 years old and I would like them to have a go at reading some short stories or a rather short and stimulating book!
Thanks in advance

I m particularly fond of Roger Dean Kiser s short stories (dowloadable on shortstories.com if I remember well). As for books, why not try the Twilight series or Hunger Games? Good luck! |

One book I used with adult students was James Thurber s Fables for our Time. You can find the fables at http://www.harpercollins.com/browseinside/index.aspx?isbn13=9780060909994 They are short and funny, and some of them use familiar stories as a foundation (The Little Girl and the Wolf, for example). The morals are clever, too. Thurber has always been one of my favorite authors, and the fact that he is from Columbus, Ohio, like me, makes it even better. You might try some of these stories with the students.
