Put something on - is the action of, well, putting an item of clothing on.
Wear something is ongoing, descriptive.
e.g, Put your jumper on! , what s she doing? She s putting her jumper on - she s IN THE ACT of it. What s she wearing? - it s already on, and the emphasis is on the item of clothing.
I m sure you ll get a better reply than this! |

Hi!
To wear: to have as ornament or
protection (as clothes, shoes, etc.)
To put something on: to clothe or
cover oneself with.
To put something on refers to the act;
to wear refers to the result: the clothes someone has on.
When a person is getting ready for a
party s/he puts clothes or shoes on; from that moment on s/he wears the clothes
s/he puts on.
Have a nice day!
