Is there any umbrella term for the companies that provide access to the Internet?

Does the name "cable company" imply that other services are offered (apart from an Internet conection)?

Probably the word you �re looking for is "Internet Service Provider" (ISP)

I think, you should specify Internet provider otherwise it can be confused with a cable TV company. Any tips from native-speakers?
