Hey guys, look at this sentence:
Put on channel 5, I want to watch the game. (imagine that the TV is turned off)
It s not the idea of changing the channel.
What are other synonyms for put? |

That may be British. In the US, we would say "Turn on channel 5", or "Turn the television on to channel 5". Bruce |

You would probably say Put the telly on. Put it on channel 5. But, just, Put channel 5 on is OK. We also use turn switch and of course pop . Pop the telly on. We can use pop with a lot of activities.

The Canadian version is identical to the U.S. Turn on channel 5 or Turn it (the TV) to channel 5.
