However, I �m afraid it �s rather less prosaic. It �s engaging in hankypanky when the alcohol has had a certain effect (also known as �a thrash �).
Numm = numb and also, short for numerous, as in attempts.
Nummamorous behaviour is rather contemptible, particularly for the over forties.

During the Industrial Revolution,
which took place in the late eighteenth
and nineteenth centuries, many families were lured to cities to work in
factories. Among these laborers were mothers who unfortunately,
due to their lack of experience with urban life, fell in love with some fellow
male workers and were tempted to commit
acts of philandery and hence convicted and subjected to severe penalties. A
group of males, husbands and sons, newly arrived to city sympathised
with these mothers and established an organization to raise funds and defend them in courts. They
