Hi guys, I need your help with this point. We are teaching " i like + Ving" but in the listening part , they said " I d like" ex: What would you like to do in the forest?"- " I d like to draw a leaf". so in this case what is the " would like" really meant? And the answer for " Would you like to draw a leaf in the forest?" is - YES,I d like OR Yes, I d love to/ Yes, please - No, I wouldn t OR No, thanks Thank you guys very much Best regards, |

Hi,
There s a difference in meaning: - "like + Ving" is used in the sense of "enjoy" , e.g. I like drawing leaves. = I enjoy drawing them. - "would like + to-infinitive" is used in the sense of "want", e.g. I d like to draw a leaf. = I want to draw a leaf. Hope this helped. Have a nice day! |
