why is it important if your students are left-brained or right-brained? when (edit) we study grammar, i always ask the students to study a grammar point in context then I ask them to cut it in small units (each having a particular meaning) and then they conclude about the general rules...

My guess is that ptienchiks has to give a presentation to other teachers. Your idea of cutting and rearranging phrases, ELOJOLIE274, is a good technique for teaching right-brain learners. It �s out of favor and not used much in the USA right now, but another technique that is good for teaching grammar to right-brain learners is sentence diagramming.
