look or seem?

Hi!
Ive got a question. What sounds more correct in the following sentence?
"In a job interview you must wear elegant clothes if you want to SEEM/LOOK formal and responsible"
Are these verbs interchangable in this instance?
Thanks in advance!

I would say "look", but I don t know why... Maybe "seem" would imply some sort of deceit. I m waiting for the others answers too! |

Definitely look. You could also use come across as.
I think should or need to are better better than must, although we werent asked about that, and do you really want to look formal? These days, you certainly want to look responsible, but you probably need to look friendly rather than formal.
Just a few observations! Back to my Sunday morning newspapers!
