many in affirmative sentences

Native speakers help me please! Is it correct to say : 1. I have many things to tell you. 2. She has many hobbies. Is it incorrect to use many in positive sentences? Thank you very much.

Both sentences sound perfectly fine to me. "Any" would be wrong (use some instead); "many" is fine. |

I beg to differ, Despina, It s exactly the opposite, many is more formal in positive sentences and in colloquial language a lot of/lots of is more preferable (Br En) http://oald8.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/dictionary/many Sophia

Sophia, it s more common in US English, too. We only use the positive "many" in fairly formal situations. Bruce |
