A friend of mine wants a tattoo but I am not sure which tense to use. Could you help, please:
The fortune shuffles the cards, we are playing them.
or
The fortune shuffles the cards, we play them.
Which one is correct?

I �d rather choose the 2nd; it sounds like expressing a general truth of this world being ruled by fate.
If you choose the first, I suppose we need to put the verb shuffle in a tense showing the anteriority of this action: The fortune has shuffled the cards, we are playing them.

I �d also choose the second one. If you wanted to use the first you �d need to change the verb "Shuffle"as Mohamed well say.

Fortune shuffles (deals is better) the cards, we play them. There is a saying �It �s not the cards you are dealt, but the way you play them that matters. � Or variations of that. |

I agree with Lynne (as usual). Note that it �s not "The fortune". Also, I would use a period or semi-colon rather than a comma. Bruce
