I �ve come across this phrase somewhere. I wonder it �s perfectly okay to say:
Everyone has their share of problems. |

The grammar police would say no, because everyone is singular and one should use "his or her" instead of "their." Using their in this context is not yet standard. I think it will be standard in ten or twenty years because it is in common usage. I have no problem with this sentence personally, but thought I �d point out a possible problem.

I agree with MM and Douglas. It �s tedious to be saying �his or her � when you can say �their � and convey the meaning. |
