I �d like to ask for your help in a grammar point. What should I answer in this situation? WHAT ARE YOU DOING? I �M JUNPING ROPE or I JUMP ROPE. Please, give me the explanation for the right answer. |

@ Lynne: Yep, it �s AmE for skipping
I always tell my students that the key to their answer is in the question itself, so if you have Present Continuous in the question you should answer using Pres. Continous, hense - I am jumping rope.
If you had "What do you usually do during your big break/ after school?" the answer would be , "I jump rope"

That �s exactly what I wondered when I saw it yesterday cunliffe. I had an inkling that maybe it was skipping. Sounds very strange to my ears. |

We teach British English at our college so "skipping" is what I would use. |

Back to the question at hand, you would use "I am jumping rope." because the question was posed in the present continuous so it should be answered in the same tense. |
