Russian language?

Hi all,

I hope you can help me. One of my new classes has two students from Russia. They are in their mid-20 s and have never learned English before. The rest of the class are level B1. Can anyone give me some useful tips or websites which are in Russian? If possible, the site should be for A1 adult learners from Russia (or a Russian-speaking country) with learning tasks, vocabulary and grammar, games etc. in English but with Russian explanations. If anyone knows www.ego4u.com I was hoping for something similar but with Russian and English instead of German and English. Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!

how old are the students?
bc I can see some use in that for adults who like logical explanations but if they are teens/young learners, they just need more practice in English, there isnt so much need in Language 1, in fact, it will only hinder their progress but that s my opinion. So more practice in class is what you can do for them, I guess.
BTW your Russian students probably have looked those up on their own... (don t underestimate Russian people:)

I think this one could be of help http://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en/

Anyways, in case youre thinking, "Thats not what I was asking for", heres the google search result for "Learning English on your own" (in Russian, sounds rediculous, I know)

I am so happy to see these quick replies and links!! Thank you both so much!  The students (2) of them are about 27 years old. One of them has some basic sentences but the other has absolutely nothing. So, I though it would be best for them to come at it from a Russian approoach...

Don t forget that our alphabet is very different from theirs, so that is a place you need to start.

Hi again:

@ Liza: that looks like a really good one, although I can t understand anything. There seem to be reviews and comments from adults, with examples of sentence construction in a simple method. So thatnk for that, I will give it a try :-)

@ Sonn: Great links! I will go through them one by one. The video links are always a nice alternative. I had a look at the first one and scrolled ahead. The teacher is using a matrix to explain the verb forms with simple sentences in a kind of reality show format, with adult participants. That seems to be a really nice tool - thanks! Maybe I can learn some Russian that way, too :)

@ Bruce: thanks for that

@ Alex: I have had some time to look through the links and there is enough here to keep my two students buzy and satisfied for quite some time to come :-)  Do you of any specific link that has some simple exercises with solutions?

@ Sophia: your Google search in Russian was a stroke of genius! That is something which I could not have done, so that is a really useful one - you re right, it could be that the students did that already, but I would rather offer them too many options than too few :-)

So, thank you all so much for your very speedy replies and useful tips!  What a great service, and my students will surely be impressed thd thankful too!

Have a great week,

Dave
