Tight-fitting or tightly fitting trousers (or pants) means that the trousers are tight. It might be because the wearer gained weight, or the fit could be intentional.
If the trousers are tightly fitted, they are made to be tight, perhaps even altered to fit more tightly. When something is fitted, it is made to fit something. For example, a fitted sheet is sewn with elastic so that it covers the mattress smoothly. If you use a flat sheet to cover the mattress instead, you need to fold the corners down.
So both tight-fitting and tightly fitted are correct, but they have slightly different meanings. |
