English Games

Hi pals,

Is there a game in English culture in which you come up with a letter from the alphabet (take the letter D for example), and you sort out different things (like a name, a family name, a fruit, a food, a city, a country, ...) starting with that letter, played in groups?

If yes, what would you call that game?

Could you also tell me the names of some games people play in groups? Any game.

Thanks

Here in Brazil we call it "STOP". Students write a word with the same letter for each topic and when finished they have to shout "STOP".

There s a board game that comes with category cards and a dice with all the letters of the alphabet.  It s called "scattergories" (a mix of scatter and categories).  You could also call it catergories. ;)

Have fun!

Yes, Scattergories is a commercially-produced version of the game, but it is actually an old parlor game called Categories, just as you describe it.
