Synonym for "gain experience"
|
Hello, I am writing a letter where I ve already used "gained experience" and I need to say something similar but with another verb and I just can t decide which one is right : obtain, get, achieve ... Maybe the always nice and helpful native speakers here can give me a hand ? ;-) Thanks a lot !! Alicia

I believe obtain would be OK. Can you use a completely different phrase, such as improve skills or further develop skills or sth like that?

Thank you, Anita. I wrote "the experience I have gained" and I need something similar like "obtaining experience" , maybe ... Improve skills doesn t fit there ... It s a cv and it s about gaining experience because he already has enhanced skills ... Thank you!

gained is the best word. not gathered.
either obtained or acquired would be OK. Of those two I think I d choose acquired.
