It is a BREAK-FASTING BEEPER. Grand-pa who was a caller to prayer used to have one. He asked my father to use it whenever he fell ill and couldn �t make the sun set athan by himself during Ramadan. On hearing the beep sound, villagers rushed to their homes to break their fasting .
