Dear teachers, I m new here and by reading the instructions I had some doubts when the administrator mentions the pictures we can use to make our worksheets. They say we can use only the ones from free websites, so how do I know which ones are free, that is, how do I know that the sources are free, which ones I can use or not?
Thanks in advance |

Ok, so the ones I find on Google for example, which don t have a watermark are free to use? Thanks a million dear, you made my day! |

I have been reported several times for using non-watermarked pictures that I didn t know were meant to be for selling.... So some pictures that don t have any watermark can be punished too....I have even been reported and punished for my own works just because I created a PDF of my own work and I took a picture of it and pasted it into a DOC (because it was the only way to highly reduce the size of the document), The reason...It look as a picture of a book (thats what the admin wrote) I complainned but nothing happened at all! so be carefull

I agree with Raul, mine was also reported although there was no watermark on them. Here are the links for safe use of images:
http://www.phillipmartin.info/clipart/homepage.htm
http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/ ( however, here the rule is that you need to name the source, not just to put the image)
Be really careful in using the images. But I must say that many people here use those images that are not allowed, they still continue to break the rules, but since they have lots of points no one reports their work.

I sometimes dont notice the watermarks on the pictures and use them, which results in being reported the first moment I upload(That is what I think) .However,I sometimes see works with watermarked images and yes with lots of points.Does it make any sense to you?You see, I really don t understand

Googling images does not mean you have the right to use them. You can refine your search and find out pictures you can use. When you re on google image, click on the button that has some kind of circle/bolt, to access the options. Then click on "advanced search". At the bottom, you can choose to only have access that are free to use in the "usage rights" section.
@nesr-in, if you see someone else s work with watermarked pictures, you have the option of reporting the work.

Here are two awesome clipart websites: http://www.clker.com and https://openclipart.org. All cliparts are public domain which means you can use them for any purpose without any restrictions.

Before inserting an image:
1. Check for a watermark - These require permission - once you have permission you will be given a clean copy
2. Check for a copyright symbol - this means that you have to check the terms of use stipulated by the copyright owner, and follow their instructions. Sometimes you can use these, sometimes you cannot.
3. Check the terms of use of the site where you got the picture.
Once you insert the image it is a good idea to cite your source of your image. If its your own image, state this on your work somewhere e.g. in the footer.
If you see a contribution that breaks the rules, report it with the appropriate reason. Note that older contributions pre-2010 cannot be reported. It was at this time that the new rule was brought in.
raul.vasquez.ramirez, anything that is scanned is often reported, so scanning and putting it into a Word doc is not a good idea unless you clearly state why you have scanned it and whether it is your original creation.
