would and could

Hi everybody,
Which is correct? -Would you add this card to the box?
-Could you add this card to the box?
I know could and couldn t are used for the ability in the past.
ex.-When I was younger, I could run a mile in minutes.
-I couldn t find my wallet anywhere.
*could is also used for posibilities in the future
ex.-I could put an advertisements on facebook and google.
*could you is used to make a polite request.
ex.-could you open the window please.
*would you like is used to make a polite offers.
ex.- Would you like a cup of tea?
thanks in advance |

Would you add this card to the box? is a request, but really it s more of a polite imperative statement. Could you add this card to the box? is also a request, but implies that the receiver of the request may not be able to because they are busy or unable to add it for some reason.
For practical purposes though, either one is fine.
