Here you are
Hello my dear friends,
Im just browsing through a placement test and I got to this question:

Could I have the sugar, please?
 ____.
 Thanks.

a Here you are    b Here it is    c Please

Im sure the correct answer is a) Here you are. It is a standard "textbook" phrase and the answer key says only a) is correct. But Id like to know if the option b) Here it is  is also possible. I would say so. If I can remember well, I heard it many times in Britain. And what about you and the option b)?

Both are commonly used.

Hi Oto. I agree with your good self and Jayho. In fact, I would be much more likely to say Here it is than Here you are .

Thanks a lot, both of you, dear friends. Thumbs Up
