On top of the mountain does the tower stand. Please could someone explain why this sentence is not correct? |

Well, there is no need for subject inversion as long as the sentence is affirmative. Therefore, the correct one is: On top of the mountain the tower stands. It still sounds very poetic, though.. Otherwise, this should be the normal version: The tower stands on top of the mountain.
I hope this helps.. :) |

I totally agree with Abbes Z, or you can put it this way if you want to emphasize on the standing quality of the tower and simply say: On top of the mountain does stand the tower. Regards; |
